Susana Rivas opens this exhibition, which offers a journey through Renaissance art and has a strong educational focus

The municipal delegate for Culture, Susana Rivas, and the director of the Chiclana Museum, Jesús Romero, have inaugurated the exhibition “Renaissance: Memory and Project,” which will be on view through December 6 at the city museum. This is the first of three exhibitions on the Renaissance that the museum will host between now and the end of December.
It is worth noting that the exhibition has a distinctly educational focus; beginning with two galleries—which will later be joined, in stages, by two additional spaces—it offers a journey through Renaissance art and the broader cultural movement that extended beyond the realm of art.
Susana Rivas explained that this exhibition takes a more educational approach, “to bring art closer to the educational community.” Furthermore, this exhibition reflects the Italian Renaissance in the 15th and 16th centuries, “a time of great cultural ferment. The goal is for the public to observe and learn about the pictorial style of that era, in which the human figure once again took center stage.” She also invited the public to enjoy these paintings, which are currently displayed in two galleries of the museum.
For his part, Jesús Romero noted that figures such as Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci do not appear in the exhibition, “because we have focused on painting, and they did not consider themselves painters. They will be featured in the third part of this exhibition, which will showcase other Renaissance works in which they take center stage.”
